Hotsy Totsy Burlesque - Dec 18th by karkarodon

Not a long time from now, in a bar not very far, far away…

It's time for the Holidays and for Cherry Pitz it is time to view her favorite TV show, The Star Wars Holiday Special. All the girls at The Home For Wayward Girls and Fallen Women are doing Star Wars acts in honor of the occasion and if we can get the beta cassette to work, Cherry promises to show you a video clip of Bea Arthur dancing with space aliens at the Mos Eisley Cantina!.

PS: we are not making this up.

PPS: Don't tell George Lucas we have a copy, he has vowed to smash them all with a hammer.

Co Hosted by CHERRY PITZ & HANDSOME BRAD

Featuring performances by:

BRIEF SWEAT

CHERRY PITZ

HARD CORY

JENNY C'EST QUOI

MR. GORGEOUS

ROSEY LA ROUGE

TOPHER BOUSQUET

Following on the footsteps of Hotsy Totsy Burlesque's successful Doctor Who Returns to Hotsy Totsy!, Mad Men, Cherry Pitz Vampire Hunter and Game of Thrones themed shows, Cherry Pitz and Joe the Shark proudly present their tribute to the 1978 Star Wars Christmas Special! We are New York's only episodic, monthly burlesque show featuring a different script each month and a rotating cast. Hotsy Totsy is a high camp soap opera featuring some of the best burlesque talent New York has to offer.

Every third Tuesday of the month, you are invited to the basement of The Home For Wayward Girls and Fallen Women. The residents of the home need money to keep their hotel open and to buy G-strings and glitter. Sadly, the shows have had their technical difficulties and in the past as they've had to combat, zombies, gangsters, human-animal hybrids, televangelists and snake oil salesmen. The performers promise you beautiful, clothing-averse women, lots of laughs, spinning tassels, and flying underpants. So join us for Hotsy Totsy Burlesque at The Home For Wayward Girls and Fallen Women where the motto is "We've fallen, we can't get up, and we like it that way!"

It's a feeling of having stumbled into a bar outside of the space-time continuum, where the best bits of sexy 20th century aesthetics (early jazz, false eyelashes, garter belts) have been gathered together for some smart and sensual dancers to play with. - www.nytheatre.com

Do you live in New York City?  Do you like burlesque, storytelling, or sideshow?  Then you should be joining me at R-Bar Manhattan every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month for SHARKBITE SIDESHOW!  Sponsored by Mermaid Pilsner, with drink specials all night, it's the ONLY show that actually helps out sharks.  And you get in for half price if you have a shark tattoo or are a certified scuba diver and bring your cert card along to show me, Joe the Shark, at the door.

Been a pretty crazy month getting ready for this event.  But damn it, I couldn't be prouder!
Joe the Shark presents
THE UNSUNG HEROES OF BURLESQUE
Featuring the works of 21 photographers.

What is burlesque?  Burlesque is about the art of the tease.  But a good burlesque performance is so much more than that.  More than even the dictionary definition:  "a humorous and provocative stage show featuring slapstick humor, comic skits, bawdy songs, striptease acts, and a scantily clad female chorus."  Burlesque really is the ultimate form of self-expression.  And who captures the moments of these performances that are based on costume, skill and creativity?  The unsung heroes of the Burlesque World -- The Photographers.  There truly is an art to capturing a unique image on the stage or in the studio.

Come explore the world of burlesque through photos in this month long exhibit featuring the works of over twenty of the country's best photographers.

Ed Barnas
Leland Bobbe

Been M.I.A.

2 min read
Well, life has been interesting.  The USA economy certainly isn't helping.  I'm still producing burlesque shows, but my internet browsers seem to be malfunctioning with DA over and over again so it's very frustrating to come on and not be able to post, and sometimes not even be able to view my notes.  And the DA help desk has been extremely unhelpful.  So I kinda walked away from my friends on DA for a while.  Feel bad about that, cause many of you are people I miss and admire.

So... 2006/2007/2008/2009 have been:

Move back to NYC.

Start managing a building in NYC on a part time basis.

Walking dogs, paying my rent on that alone.

Writing.

Burlesque producing / working burlesque doors.

Design work.

No longer walking dogs cause so many people have lost their jobs.

Unable to get satisfying work other than the burlesque.

Dealing with a frustrating singles scene.

What else can I say?  I got a few pregnant friends and I hope they have healthy and happy babies.

Miss you here on DA, especially but not limited to people who keep taking photos of really dangerous animals even if they aren't aware that they are dangerous, highly allergic people, music muses and someone who once cried in front of me.
